Advanced Human Resource Executive Program (AHREP)
University of Michigan Ross School of Business

This long-running senior-HR development program is focused on linking HR strategy to business strategy, delivering value to investors, customers, and employees, building HR analytics, and setting a new strategic vision for the HR function. This in-person program is ideal for senior HR executives and managers who recognize HR's role in business success (spans aspiring and sitting CHROs). Ann Arbor, MI.

 

Berkeley Transformative CHRO Leadership Program (co-led by Laszlo Bock)
UC Berkeley Haas — Berkeley Executive Education

This program prepares senior HR leaders to build credibility at the C-suite and board table through grounding in science, analytics, AI and technology, corporate-finance acumen, and elite consulting and change-leadership skills. It is for senior HR leaders aspiring to become CHROs (e.g., SVP, VP, or Director of HR), across industries and globally. Its hybrid format consists of two 3-day in-person sessions at UC Berkeley Haas plus online modules (~3–6 months).

 

Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Program
The Wharton School — Wharton Executive Education (with Emeritus)

A primarily online program that develops senior HR leaders and aspiring CHROs to align talent strategy with business strategy and lead enterprise transformation, blending core modules, electives, people analytics, and a capstone, with live fireside chats and a peer network. For senior HR leaders and aspiring CHROs (also relevant to those already in the seat). The online program (live + self-paced) also has a short on-campus networking/graduation event. ~9–12 months

 

Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Program
UCLA Anderson Executive Education (with Emeritus)

Since 2006, this four-month program has built on UCLA Anderson's Transformative Leader Model to strengthen strategic, analytical, and leadership capabilities, with strong emphasis on AI and people analytics. It consists of live online modules, a 5-day campus immersion, and personalized coaching. Intended for senior HR leaders and aspiring CHROs. ~4 months (16 weeks)

 

CHRO Leadership Academy (CHRO Leadership Program)
Michigan State University — School of HR & Labor Relations (HRLR)

This cohort certification program is built around individualized one-on-one coaching from a current or former CHRO, plus online video modules and small-group discussion, covering board/governance, talent strategy, executive compensation, and advising the CEO and board. Perfect for senior HR leaders stepping into a first CHRO/CPO role and successor candidates on the enterprise-HR succession path. Virtual coaching + online modules; one-day spring kickoff and an optional two-day in-person finale (cohort). 9 months (March–November)

 

Global HR Leadership Experience (GHRLE)
USC Darla Moore School of Business (Architects: Ulrich, Wright, Beatty)

Invitation-only, this 100-day immersive experience prepares senior HR leaders to drive stakeholder value through human-capability initiatives—combining in-person intensives, virtual coaching, 360° feedback, organizational action plans, and a global peer network.Ideal for senior HR leaders and high-potential executives aspiring to transform the HR function and advance toward top HR leadership (spans aspiring and sitting). Hybrid (8-day in-person intensive in Columbia, SC plus virtual engagement, ~100 days total).   

 

Modern CHRO Role  (a.k.a. “Top Seat”)
Cornell University ILR School (co-sponsored with NAHR)

This is a nomination-only program that prepares accomplished HR leaders to step into the CHRO role through candid sessions with sitting CHROs, board members, and CEOs. Since 2008, this program has helped participants build a 90-day action plan for leading the HR function. This four month, hybrid program (in-person + virtual) is ideal for high-potential HR executives with ~15+ years of experience who are named CHRO successors or ready to take the top seat within a few years. Nomination by a CHRO/CEO required.

 

Modern Future CHRO Academy
Modern Executive Solutions  — Larry Emond

Modern also runs the Modern Future CHRO Academy, a cohort development program with coaching aimed at future CHROs. Perfect for aspiring and future CHROs. The program is cohort-based with coaching. Ongoing  cohort (Academy)

An intensive, live-virtual cohort program built to equip high-potential HR talent with the skills, mindset, and tools to operate as strategic businesspeople—not just business partners—and to translate business strategy into HR initiatives that deliver value. Intended for HR directors and senior managers aiming to grow business acumen, influence, and impact. Live virtual (cohort), 4 weeks (intensive).

CHRO Academy
National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR Foundation)

NAHR's signature program — an intensive two-day session where first-time CHROs learn alongside NAHR Fellows and gain board- and CEO-level perspective on expectations of the role. Intended for first-time CHROs in their first “top HR” role (typically three years or less), across public, private, PE-owned, government, and non-profit organizations. This 2-day, in-person program takes place in New York City.

 

Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Program
Duke University — Fuqua School of Business (Duke Executive Education, in collaboration with Great Learning)

A seven-month program for next-in-line, recently appointed, and experienced CHROs to align talent strategy with business objectives and lead at the enterprise level. Blends live-online sessions with two on-campus immersions at Duke, small-group CHRO Advisory Labs and mentorship with sitting CHROs, simulations of high-stakes “moments that matter,” and a capstone CHRO Impact Plan. The curriculum spans enterprise leadership, finance and risk, AI and digital strategy, governance, and boardroom readiness. Perfect for senior HR leaders at or preparing for the top of the organization — sitting CHROs upskilling for changing demands, recently appointed CHROs in their first 2–3 years, and high-potential HR executives identified for enterprise leadership (spans aspiring and sitting). Live online + two on-campus immersions at Duke (Durham, NC). 7 months

 

CHRO Transition Lab & CHRO Elevate Lab
Deloitte

Invitation only. Includes two single-day, facilitated Deloitte lab experiences for current CHROs. The CHRO Transition Lab helps newly appointed CHROs gain traction fast through an immersive, tailored day that ends in a 180-day action plan with specific, achievable milestones. The CHRO Elevate Lab helps seasoned CHROs raise their game and grow as leaders, producing a custom roadmap to navigate a critical organizational change or challenge. Transition is for newly appointed CHROs, Elevate is for seasoned CHROs.One-day session, in person or virtual.

 

CHRO Xcelerator Fellowship

Transformational CHRO Programme
