The Future of Unions is Activism

This new report explores a key paradox: trade union membership is declining dramatically but employee activism is rising. What does this mean for unions and their influence in the workforce? And what should CHROs and companies do in response? We share three possible scenarios for the future of trade unions. Plus, a six-step framework to get ahead of it. You will learn how to read your employee climate before it turns, resolve individual grievances before employees organize, and pressure-test your entire workforce for the issues that spark a campaign.

EU Pay Transparency Pulse Report

The EU Pay Transparency Directive aims to close the gender pay gap and enforce the principle of equal pay for equal work. The deadline was June 7, 2026, and but only 4 countries (Italy, Slovakia, Malta and Lithuania) have met the deadline. The directive demands a large-scale analysis of pay data, job levels and many multinational employers feel as though they are left to interpret that complexity on their own. Our new EU Pay Transparency Pulse Report is designed to support that work. The report reflects what members are currently thinking, where they are seeing the most uncertainty, and actions they are taking right now.

Negotiating AI Works Agreements in Germany

Deploying AI in Germany requires more than a technology strategy—it requires a negotiation strategy. This toolkit from Gernot N. From navigating pre-internet labor laws to closing the AI literacy gap at the negotiating table, the toolkit covers the four most common pressure points in AI works council negotiations—and offers practical, CHRO-tested guidance for structuring agreements that hold up as the technology evolves.

National Labor Relations Act vs. Mexican Labor Legislation Post-USMCA

In 2019, Mexico implemented its landmark labor reform to change the country’s “protection union” labor regime, allowing more independence and transparency of union organizing. The modifications corresponded to the government’s commitments to the United States-Mexico- Canada Agreement (USMCA) Article 23 and Annex 23-A and to the execution and ratification of Convention 98 of the International Labor Organization regarding the Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining. Notably, the U.S. has not ratified the Convention due to a “direct conflict” to its national labor law – the National Labor Relations Act.
